Understanding The Preliminary Task

Definitions:


Match on action - A cut made on action or movement between two shots in which the action has been overlapped either by repetition of the action or by the use of more than one camera

Match on action is clearly shown between 2-3 Seconds, 7-8 Seconds and 18 seconds. The perspective changes while the scene still flows. Its a simple but essential technique.


Shot/Reverse Shot - A film technique where one character is shown looking at another and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Views assume there looking at eachother, because the characters are shown facing in opposite directions

The 180-degree rule - The 180 Degree Rule states that two characters in a scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other
